Local Legends is a documentary series I created for Atlas Obscura that highlights local celebrities around the US.
This is Miss Showtime: the first female member of the OG Black bike gang set in LA, a poet, a retired aircraft mechanic, Tina Turner impersonator, and great grandmother.
Other subjects include Jim Bowsher, who built a temple in his suburban Ohio backyard, queer performance icon Dynasty Handbag, a South Dakotan scrap metal artist who turned his old high school into a delightful medieval themed motel, the last original residents of the Salton Sea, and Piano Pat, a musician who performed at the same tiki bar in Montana for 54 years.
